ELECTRO EXPLOSION!
It's been forever! Summer is upon us once again. I have some suggestions. If you aren't already listening to these bands/groups/people, then you should!
First off, we have the ever talented Steve Aoki. He's super busy and super talented. He owns Dim Mak Records, he plays DJ sets practically every night. Mainly in Los Angeles, but he does get paid a ton to play a set. Check him out here. Not to mention his dad owns the Benihana restaurant chain, and his sister is Devon Aoki, whom you might know from the second installment of The Fast and the Furious, and I believe she's in a video by The Killers.
Next, we have MSTRKRFT. One half is an electro genius (well both are electro geniuses), the other is a member from the now defunct band Death From Above 1979. I don't know, but they remix the hottest songs, and make you want to shake your ass even more!
Next we have Justice. Now French Electro is the best kind of Electro, but Justice takes the cake. Last year, they won the coveted "Video of the Year" award at the MTV Europe Music Awards for "We Are Your Friends". Where Kanye West infamously ranted on stage about how he felt he should have won the award instead. "We Are Your Friends" was definitely one of my favorite songs in 2006, because it also included Simian. Who created the indie-classic "La Breeze."
In any case, Justice has a new album out. They have a hot track called D.A.N.C.E., It's reminiscent of Michael Jackson, in the Jackson 5 era. With a dance beat in the back. It's very nice. Another track I'm loving on the album is "The Party" which brings me to my next artist, Uffie. She's featured on "The Party". She is also an excellent DJ, it's kind of like 80's electro hip hop. It's really nice.
